Eliana and Tucker (Nubby-Bean). The picture that started An Angel With Four Legs
My husband, David, is a wonderful photographer. It is not an understatement to say that we have hundreds and hundreds of Tucker pictures. When Tucker died, I wanted to put together a photo book of Tucker pictures with captions. I wanted it to be one of those home-made books that you put on the coffee table next to your books about vacations. Made by us, for us. So I opened up a slide presentation and started inserting the most heart-moving photos we had.
For example, one of the many pictures of Tucker swimming had the caption "Tucker swimming." Another photo of Tucker catching a ball was captioned "Tucker and his blue racquetball." When I came across a really great picture of my granddaughter and Tucker looking at each other, I pasted it into the slide show, but instead of captioning it "Eliana and Tucker," I captioned it, “Mama, there is an angel at the door.” The next picture of Tucker looking out the sliding glass door, and Eliana holding her stomach and laughing led to "Mama, my angel has a funny name. That is how An Angel With Four Legs was born.
My Tucker, my Nubby-Bean, will be immortalized in the Rainbow Brigade Series that will hopefully aid others in coping with many struggles families face. Rest in peace my Nubby-Bean. Run and play and catch those balls. --Mama
